Chrysler seeks to keep working through bankruptcy

Chrysler is asking U.S. District Bankruptcy Judge Arthur Gonzalez in New York to approve the immediate moves necessary to keep the company open during bankruptcy -- from paying its lawyers to keeping the electricity on at the Auburn Hills, Mich., headquarters. But the thrust of its case that will unfold in the coming days will be meant to convince Gonzalez that a sale of Chrysler's assets to a new Chrysler-Fiat partnership is the only way to avoid a collapse of the entire company.
